It is definitely a great classic and comes from the Bronze age. Several armored vehicles run from right to left and from left to right and the player’s goal is to hit them with the bazooka that can only move horizontally. At the time of the shot the bullet crosses the screen from the bottom and if you have taken the right measures hit the target. However, it is necessary to pay attention to ambulances and stretcher bearers; in fact, by hitting them you get a negative score. The game is timed with the possibility of an extended time if you reach a certain score.

Although produced by several manufacturers with different names, the cabinet in the collection is a bootleg presumably Italian. It is in excellent aesthetic condition and the control panel has been remade by building stencils of the original images and then proceeding with spray painting. The board also seems to have a proprietary layout although the topology seems to respect the original schemes of Project Support Engineering. Although it is a very old piece it is in surprising conditions and also a lot of fun.

Yet another Italian bootleg…

This is a bootleg of Bazooka but, to say the truth, it is more similar to Cross Fire by Taito, another version of the same game. Cab was complete but a little bit… rusted…

Bazooka

29 March 2014

The first part I decided to fix is the control panel with the bazooka. These are the first work I’ve done.

Control panel

To restore the rest of the control panel was more difficult. First of all I had to remove the rust from the control panel,  but first I made a good scan…

PCB

30 March 2014

I made a lot of work on the PCB. I had some difficulties to fix it without schematics, and it is a pcb witout a CPU so I couldn’t proceed on the basis of my previous experience. This is the PCB with the sound board.

Anyway here a couple of pages that can be useful.
